Gift Baskets: Any Occasion For Any Person
Posted in Food on 07/16/2010 09:07 am bywhen celebrating special occasions such as birthdays and anniversaries, a gift basket can be a very much appreciated gift. A gift basket consists of a container (usually a basket) filled with many different, yet related, items. There are several items which can be used as a container, as well as several options as to how the container can be filled and wrapped when it comes to gift baskets.
Although the name contains the word “basket”, the container need not be a basket. For example, a child might appreciate beach supplies (like a shovel, a towel, sunscreen, etc..) much more if they were to be packed inside a large bucket which can also be used on the beach. Another good idea, would be a plastic crate for a college student or a fashionable and useful bag.
A successful gift basket is filled with a variety of different - but related - items. A great anniversary gift might contain wine, cheese, crackers, and some fluted glasses. If everything fits a thoughtful, unified theme, the contents of your basket will hold together and be more pleasing.
There are many types of occasions for which a gift basket would be appropriate. Appreciation gifts can include fine soaps and lotions, along with a massage or manicure certificate for a woman, or cologne and nice cufflinks and tie tacks for a man. A graduation basket can be a plastic crate containing school supplies, stamps, quarters, and bed linens. Newlyweds might appreciate a picnic basket full of durable plates and cups, a cooler for food, and a blanket for picnicking.
Such baskets need not only be used for celebratory occasions. A “get well soon” basket containing tissues, videos and a nice card would be ideally suited for a sick colleague. Children really enjoy receiving special “winter break” baskets with hot chocolate and materials to make a snowman - all of which may be given inside a top hat. Sympathy occasions may also be acknowledged by means of a basket full of pictures and memories of the deceased along with some non-perishable treats and an IOU for a special cheer-up get together.
Another important aspect of basket giving is the wrapping. Although one could just toss everything together in a basket, arranging it attractively makes the gift appear more thoughtful. Some people use tissue paper or “Easter grass” between objects to hold them in place and add festivity. Remember to add a bow to the top to create a polished final detail!
A gift basket can be an appreciated gift on various occasions. Though the term “basket” is used, container need not always be a basket. Most successful baskets contain several related items, For instance, a good anniversary gift may be a basket with bottle of wine, chocolates and champagne glasses. The contents of the basket can be used together, giving it a cohesiveness overall. A basket can be used for occasions other than celebratory occasions. A ” get well soon basket” with tissues, videos etc can be suitable for a sick colleague. Baskets with toiletries etc. may be good appreciation gifts.
