How to treat acne safely
Posted in Health, Skin Care on 07/15/2010 08:07 am byAcne is one of the most stressful skin conditions faced by both teenagers and adults alike. There is possibly no more embarrassing and irritating skin condition in existence, yet the solutions are wide and varied. Some of the more common approaches are natural creams and gels, and topical steroids. The real question is, which of these solutions are right for me? To answer this, let’s first explain topical treatments a little further.
TOPICAL STEROIDS AND NATURAL CREAMS/GELS
Topical steroids are an umbrella of prescription only medications that are administered by doctors and dermatologists. Their uses are common but wide in scope, and include various skin disorders and diseases such as psoriasis, eczema, acne, dermatitis, and rashes.
DETERMINING WHICH ONE IS THE BEST TREATMENT FOR ACNE
For us to analyze which treatment better achieves results, we must look first into the risks attributed to their application. We must also determine if the products deteriorate the health of the skin. Finally we must ascertain their ease of availability.
INTERNAL RISKS ASSOCIATED WITH TREATMENTS
With regards to topical steroids there are a long list of internal risks or side effects, some of them far worse than others. This includes but is not limited to:
- Adrenal gland suppression - Crushing’s Syndrome - Fluid retention - Raised blood pressure - Diabetes - Increased aggression - Anaphylactic shock - Birth defects - Blood clotting - Cancer - Cardiovascular disease - Depression - Gynecomastia - Hair loss - Kidney and liver problems - Prostate enlargement and testicular atrophy
In comparison, the side effects of natural skin care treatments pale into insignificance. This is partly due to the more subtle ‘active’ nature of the product. When these are weighed against topical steroids, they appear a much safer option.
DO THE TREATMENTS DETERIORATE THE HEALTH OF OUR SKIN
The side effects attributed to the skin are also severely troubling with regards to the use of topical steroids. Some of the most pressing of these include:
- Skin thinning (atrophy) and stretch marks (striae) - Easy bruising and tearing of the skin - Perioral dermatitis (rash around the mouth) - Enlarged blood vessels (telangiectasia) - Susceptibility to skin infections - Disguising infection e.g. tinea incognito - Allergy to the steroid cream.
On the flip side, natural solutions to skin problems such as natural acne treatment cream avoid all such severe side effects, therefore rendering topical treatments impractical and illogical to recommend.
ARE THE TREATMENTS EASILY AVAILABLE
Natural creams and gels are derived from plants and animals and are available without the need of prescriptions or doctor’s approval. Topical treatments are far more restricted, in that prescriptions must be attained before they can be administered.
With all of this in mind, it is clear to see that only natural solutions are thebest treatment for acne. Poor acne health can be easily reversed through the use of a natural acne treatment gel such as Bioskinclear, an oil free product that assists in removing acne scarring, while reducing and preventing acne and rosacea. Bioskincare is equally as effective. This biological skin cream that stops acne inflammation, keeps acne bacteria under control, prevents proliferation of cysts, unclogs pores quickly, eliminates redness, dryness, and scarring.
